Roy L. Briggs Jr. was born to Roy Sr., and Vera in Dumas, Arkansas on March 16, 1960.

Bay received his education in the Michigan City Area Schools, attending both Elston and Rogers High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor. Upon returning to civilian life, Bay applied his disciplined work ethic to a career as a handyman, laborer, and a plumber. With skilled hands and a keen ability to fix anything that required repair, he became known in his family as a man who could be relied upon to fix anything.

Bay's personal life was rich with love and laughter. He leaves behind his parents, Vera (Luster) Lewis and Roy (Vanna) Briggs, Sr., fiancée, Cynthia, and his cherished children, Steven Lewis, Roy Briggs III, Victor Lee Jordan, and Shanetta Marie Jordan, bonus son, MacArthur Lamont Jordan. His legacy also lives on through his adoring twenty-one grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bay's memory will be held in high regard by his siblings, Elder LaVerne Briggs, Pastor Allen Briggs Sr. and his wife Dana, Michael Briggs Sr. and his wife Sandra, Minister Karl Briggs and his wife Ketta, Ronnie Ellison, Luster Lewis and his wife Penny, Minister Lonnie Lewis and his wife Leslie, and Terry Lewis and his wife Raina.

Throughout his life, Bay was surrounded by close friends who became like family to him, including Tyrone Robinson, Danny Walker, and Kenny Bureau and his ex-wife in which they remained friends, Carolyn Fudge. His warmth and kindness extended to a host of relatives, each of whom will miss him deeply.

Bay was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his brother David Lewis, his sister Carolyn Lewis, and a special uncle, Arthur Hicks, two grandkids, Areanna J. Briggs and Kaiden A. Briggs, who all held significant places in his heart.

A man of many interests, Bay was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, showcasing his enthusiasm for his favorite sports team. However, above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Whether it was a casual gathering or a grand celebration, Bay's presence was a source of comfort and happiness.

The void left by Bay's passing is immense, but the memories he created with each person he touched will continue to bring comfort and smiles to their faces. Bay's story is not the end, may his journey onward be as rich and rewarding as the life he lived.
